Welcome to the webpage of the National Union of Students in Hungary’s (HÖOK) Diaspora Mentoring Program.

The registration for the HÖOK Diaspora Mentoring Programme is now open for the semester of 2023/24 until the 31th of October, 2023, at 23:59. Unfortunately, we cannot accept registrations beyond the deadline.

The webpage is under construction until the end of October, so all of the features will be available from that on. Thank you for your understanding!

The Diaspora Mentoring Program aims to integrate students from the Hungarian diaspora into higher education and Hungarian society by means of various tools of peer support. 

Our task is to help young people who come home to Hungary to strengthen their sense of Hungarian identity and gain a broader and comprehensive knowledge of Hungarian customs, history, literature, and cultural treasures. To thrive in the new environment, we support students with personal mentoring, whether it is about completing their studies or meeting any other unique challenges. 

The HÖOK Diaspora Mentoring Program puts mentor teams within reach, whom they can be contacted any time if help is needed in administrative or educational tasks, and whom mentees can rely on as fellow students with Hungarian language skills and domestic network of connections.

In addition, we organize events for them on a regular basis in order to give them the chance to get to know better our common Hungarian culture, language, and history and to give them experiences of lasting effect. 

 

 

What can the Diaspora Mentoring Program offer you?

Our primary task is whether they stay in Hungary or return to the diaspora, to let them develop a Hungarian identity which they take pride in, which they get to know, love, and retain through us and later pass on to the next generations.

A Diaszpóra Mentorprogram célja, hogy a kortárssegítés eszközrendszerén keresztül integrálja a magyar diaszpórából érkező hallgatókat a felsőoktatásba és a magyar társadalomba. 

 

Feladatunk, hogy segítsük a Magyarországra tulajdonképpen hazaérkező hallgatók magyar identitástudatának erősödését, a magyar szokások, a magyar történelem, az irodalom és a kulturális kincsek, valamint maga az ország és a Kárpát-medence szélesebb körű és átfogó megismerését. Az új környezetben való boldogulásuk érdekében személyes mentorálással támogatjuk a hallgatókat, legyen szó tanulmányaik sikeres elvégzéséről vagy bármilyen egyéb személyes jellegű kihívásról. 

A HÖOK Diaszpóra Mentorprogramja elérhető közelségbe helyez számukra olyan mentorokat, akiket bármikor kereshetnek, amennyiben elakadnak az egyetemi vagy hivatali ügyintézésben, akire támaszkodhatnak, mint biztos magyar nyelvtudással és hazai bekötésekkel rendelkező hallgatótársra.

Ezen túl rendszeres programokat is szervezünk annak érdekében, hogy jobban megismerjék a közös magyar kultúránkat, nyelvünket, történelmünket és mindezen élmények és tapasztalatok a részükké váljanak.

Kiemelt feladatunk, hogy akár itthon maradnak, akár visszatérnek a diaszpórába, büszkén vallják magyarságukat, amit általunk megismernek, megszeretnek és megtartanak, majd később továbbadnak a következő generációknak.
